What does a day look like?

School Hours

The gates are closed at 8.50am. 
The school day starts at 8:50am, and pupils will be in their classroom, ready to begin lessons at this time; therefore, pupils will be expected to be in the school gate by 8:45am.
Registers will be taken as follows throughout the school day: 
The morning register will be marked by 9:00am. Pupils will receive a late mark (L) if they are not in their classroom by 9:05am. 
The morning register will close at 9:15am. Pupils will receive a mark of absence (U) if they do not attend school before this time 
The afternoon register will be marked by 1:00pm and 1:15pm (depending on the lunch time hour) 
Pupils will receive a late mark (L) if they are not in their classroom by this time. 
The afternoon register will close at 1:30pm. Pupils will receive a mark of absence (U) if they are not present 
Parents/Carers should communicate any concerns related to attendance and absence as soon as possible to the relevant member of staff.

Morning lessons

Generally, children learn about Core Subjects in the morning, this includes the following:

  • Reading
  • Writing
  • Maths
  • Spelling
  • Grammar
  • Phonics

Break

Key Stage 1 and Lower Junior breaktimes are at 10:30am and finish at 10:45am.

Upper Juniors breaktimes are at 10:50am and finish at 11:05am.

Children are allowed to eat healthy snacks at this time. These may include fruit, vegetables, rice cakes or breadsticks. Crisps, chocolate, biscuits and popcorn are not permitted.

Lunch

Lunch is staggered at Ladywood Primary School:

  • Nursery and Reception have their dinner between 11:40am and 12:20pm
  • Year 1 and Year 2 have their dinner between 12:00pm and 1:00pm.
  • Year 3 and Year 4 have their dinner between 12:00pm and 1:00pm
  • Year 5 and 6 have their dinner between 12:15pm and 1:15pm.

Lunchtime games are provided and supervised by our dinner staff. Sports Leaders are on the playground every lunchtime providing games for children to join in with.

Afternoon lessons

End of the day

The school day ends at 3:15pm. Early Years and Key Stage 1 children can be collected from the playground. Upper School children can leave through the green gate. Staff are always available at the end of the day and any children who have not been collected (unless arrangements have been made for them to walk home alone) will be taken to the school office to wait.

We are open for 32.5 hours per week.
